PHOTOGRAPHER, VIDEOGRAPHER & DIGITAL ARTIST

Derry Ainsworth is an award winning photographer, videographer and digital artist based in Hong Kong. 

After arriving in Hong Kong in 2014, Derry first went on to work in architecture for two years. After gaining visual inspiration from the city - he left his day job to pursue his passion and taught himself how to shoot almost every field of photography and videography. His story, commitment and passion to capturing Hong Kong with his imagery have gained notable recognition.

Derry has now been a photographer based in Hong Kong for over 9 years and has been fortunate enough to work on a huge variety of commercial projects with some of the biggest brands from all across the world. During this time, Derry gained recognition for his event photography and captured some of the cities most exciting events such as Clockenflap, HK rugby 7's and more. Eventually he was signed to Getty Images to cover events across the APAC region.

Apart from his commercial work Derry has always focussed on his passion for capturing the beauty of Hong Kong. He has now participated in over 18 exhibitions of his creative work, including the first ever drone exhibition in Hong Kong - and has now become a well established artist. Derry's imagery of Hong Kong has been featured in many magazines and publications such as Timeout, Bloomberg, Vogue, SCMP, CNN, Forbes and more. In other media, Derry's work has been shown on TV channels such as Viu TV and Fantastic TV. He has appeared on radio for RTHK. 

In 2021, Derry combined all of these skills in his role as creative director of Digital Art Fair Asia - where he designed, managed and curated the pioneer digital art NFT event. Derry himself, also participated as an artist at the show.

In 2022, Derry has returned to being a full time artist. Derry has established himself as one of the pioneers of the NFT fine art space in Hong Kong. His 'COLLECTED MEMORIES' series was first sold at Digital Art Fair Asia and has since been featured and commissioned by Samsung, the HK Tourism Board and displayed on the side of the M+ Museum. In March 22, 'COLLECTED MEMORIES 007' was sold at auction for Sotheby's as part of their Spring contemporary online auction.

Day to day Derry likes to explore the city, camera in hand, looking to capture new, interesting perspectives of Hong Kong. With an understanding and love for architecture, he loves to capture moments in time, create captivating art and ultimately document the beauty of the city.
