Derry Ainsworth is an award winning British photographer, videographer and digital artist based in Hong Kong. 

After arriving in Hong Kong in 2014, Derry first went on to work in architecture for two years. After gaining visual inspiration from the city - he left his day job to pursue his passion for photography and taught himself how to shoot almost every field of photography and videography. His story, commitment and passion to capturing Hong Kong with his unique eye have gained notable recognition.

Derry has now been a photographer based in Hong Kong for over 11 years and has been fortunate enough to work on a huge variety of commercial projects with some of the biggest brands from all across the world.

Apart from his commercial work Derry has always focussed on his passion for capturing the beauty of Hong Kong. He has now participated in over 19 exhibitions of his creative work and has now become a well established artist. Derry's imagery of Hong Kong has been featured in many magazines and publications such as National Geographic, Timeout, Bloomberg, Vogue, SCMP, CNN, Forbes and more. In other media, Derry's work has been shown on TV channels such as Viu TV and Fantastic TV and has appeared on radio for RTHK. 

In 2021, Derry combined all of these skills in his role as creative director of Digital Art Fair Asia - where he designed, managed and curated the pioneer digital art event. Derry himself, also participated as an artist at the show.

In 2022, Derry has returned to being a full time artist and photographer. Derry has established himself as one of the pioneers of the digital fine art space in Hong Kong. His 'COLLECTED MEMORIES' series has been featured and commissioned by Samsung, the HK Tourism Board and displayed on the side of the M+ Museum. In March 22, 'COLLECTED MEMORIES 007' was sold at auction for Sotheby's as part of their Spring contemporary online auction.

In 2024, Derry was commissioned by National Geographic to photograph and showcase unique perspectives of Hong Kong in the magazine article ‘City Life - Hong Kong.’

Day to day Derry likes to explore the city, camera in hand, looking to capture new, interesting perspectives of Hong Kong. With an understanding and love for architecture, he loves to capture the beauty of the city and the moments and life within it.
